Hello everybody, I am new here. A little about myself. I am 32 years old and have been diagnosed with generalized anxiety disorder. I have suffered with anxiety pretty much my whole life. I also have major depressive disorder, OCD and ADHD...as you can imagine this makes for an interesting combo. About 4 months ago I was placed on Adderall XR for ADHD. I took that for 2 months before being switched to Dexedrine due to cardiovascular issues. Dexedrine worked well but didn't last very long. After about a month I was switched again to Vyvanse. I took Vyvanse for 3 weeks before being taken off due to more cardiovascular issues. My heart is healthy but my pulse was 130+ and my psych doc wasn't comfortable with that. Since I was taken off without taper I suffered horrendous withdrawals. I was in the hospital 3 times within a week due to, mostly, cardiovascular issues. Fortunately my EKG's were good but my pulse was very high (140-150). The withdrawals have significantly diminished within the last 3-4 days. The problem I have now is my anxiety. The withdrawals ramped up my anxiety so bad it is nearly crippling. My doc prescribe Buspirone 15 mg twice a day. I know Buspirone doesn't seem to work for a lot of people and that supposedly it takes weeks to kick in but for me it works well and works within 30 min of taking it. I don't know why but I am not complaining. I am, however, nervous of some of the side effects, in particular liver issues. N-acetylcysteine is hepatoprotective and very safe to take in reasonable amounts but I can't find anywhere online whether the two are safe to take together. I was curious if anyone here is/was taking Buspirone and N-acetylcysteine together or knows anyone who has? Asking my doctor isn't particularly helpful. I am disabled and on crappy insurance and my insurance allows me to go to the cheapest mental health facility only. Lets just say this place leaves MUCH to be desired. Any info would be much appreciated. Thanks.
