    Anyone experiences with Zoloft/BuSpar combo?

Hi, everyone, I'm new here and curious if anyone has found success taking both Zoloft and BuSpar? Specifically, has anyone else had BuSpar prescribed to counteract the sexual side-effects of Zoloft? Did it work? I've been searching around and haven't found much on the subject.

    My story -
I have had mild, but bearable, anxiety my whole life with periods (usually 3-9 months) where it would get out of hand and I would go on some medication. I was on Lexapro as a teenager, and it helped calm me down but also made me gain 30lbs. I went off of it after a year because the weight gain was making me feel worse than the anxiety. I went a few years with no medication, and then during another bad period was prescribed Zoloft. I took that for a while, and it helped to the point where I felt like I didn't need it anymore. I just stopped taking it and (surprisingly) had no withdraw side-effects. This summer I went back on Zoloft and it has helped tremendously. My life was a wreck - I felt like I had no control over my emotions at all until I started Zoloft.

Zoloft has really evened out my emotions, made me more comfortable in social situations, and greatly improved my overall mood. Except it has absolutely killed my sex drive. I have basically no desire and achieving orgasm is usually impossible. I'm male, in my early 20s and have never had any sexual problems before. I told my doctor this and he prescribed me BuSpar, 10mg twice a day while cutting my Zoloft down to 50mg a day. I'm on my 3rd day and so far haven't seen much of a difference either way.

Has anyone had a similar experience? Did it improve? How long?

    Thanks!

    Hello!

The sexual side effects usually improve after a while. When I was taking Paxil there were a couple of months during which I had a lot of trouble reaching orgasm, and sex was more of a workout than anything else. But then my libido slowly came back without adjusting the drug...

I don't think buspar itself will do anything to raise your libido... Your doc probably prescribed it to prevent any anxiety caused by cutting back on Zoloft. I'm afraid it's either-or with SSRIs. Still, it will probably come back as it did in my case.

    Hope I helped somewhat!
