    What is MHAS?

MHAS is an emergency mental health assessment service. We are a nurseled team based at the Royal Edinburgh Hospital. We are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. We also provide a service at the Royal Infirmary from 5pm – 8am Monday to Thursday and from 5pm Friday to 8am Monday.
    Who are we here for?

    MHAS is available for:

    • People experiencing a mental health crisis
    • People who need an emergency mental health assessment
    • People who have been referred by a GP or other healthcare professional.

    What do we do?

We offer emergency mental health assessment. We will refer you to the agency or service that best meets your needs. We will also liaise with your healthcare provider about your care and assessment.
    How can you contact us?

You can call us on 0131 537 6000.
You can be seen at our 24-hour service at the Royal Edinburgh Hospital.
We also see patients out of hours at the Royal Infirmary by referral from the Emergency Department or the out-of hours GP Service.
MHAS is an emergency service. If you are worried about your mental health and need advice and support, you can also speak to your GP or contact one of the following services:

Please contact them. Or I could call them for you.
