Staying Present When You Feel Depressed

Understanding the link between feeling states and thoughts can you help to stop feeding negative behavioral patterns where such an insight then leads to acceptance that further helps to break the hold that depression tends to have.
It's one thing to say "it is what it is" but then another to actually just accept *what it is, that your feeling in that moment*. The latter tends to make the is, a never was, and or an is that disappears.
It is what it is from what I have experienced in myself and others seems to be a more unresolved cliché that leaves the door open to our addiction to depressive feeling states.
Eckhart Tolle seems to hit on this really well half way into the following vid. If you got about 10 minutes I highly recommend given him a listen.
