Lightbulb Book Recommendation: "Rewire Your Anxious Brain"

I'm listening to the audiobook of this at the moment and it's good:

Chaos isn't a pit. Chaos is a ladder. Many who try to climb it fail and never get to try again. The fall breaks them. And some, are given a chance to climb. They refuse, they cling to the realm or the gods or love. Illusions. Only the ladder is real. The climb is all there is. —Petyr “Littlefinger” Baelish, Game of Thrones

    Hi gypsy

All the books you've ever recommend here have been helpful. The one about Buddhism I'll get next week. The one before that got stolen in the post. How does this book rate compared to the others? Its still a bit of a problem for me getting books delivered here. Thanks

I really enjoyed Biocentrism. I need to give it another going over before summing it up. I gets a little intense in some parts but was still an enjoyable listen.

Thx gyspy I am going to check this out as well.

    Hi guys

BB, I wouldn't want to read this one (as opposed to listening) because it's not exactly exciting, but it has some very useful info about the brain and anxiety. It's mostly about the two different areas of the brain where anxiety originates - the amygdala and the cortex - and how to change those parts. But yeah, I can only handle listening to a chapter or so at a time because *yawn* lol. If you get bad anxiety and don't know that stuff (which I didn't!) it's kind of Anxiety 101 though. I actually find audiobooks good in themselves for anxiety, and a couple of times lately I've listened to this and it's helped calm me down.

Ponder, cool.. I never did get Biocentrism. That Russell Brand book has so many references to different authors and books that I ended up with something else. I love Russell but I find his writing a bit annoying. That book (Revolution) is worth getting though, for all the connections and knowledge he has about "new age" stuff.

I appreciate your honesty. I hear what your saying. Sometimes it takes a few goes and other times some things just don't gel. A book must be good if it can keep people reading through things that annoy them. I know I have had to bide my time through a few books and found it well worth it.

This is more my "real" thing. I studied Astrology, Tarot, Mythology, Jungian Psychology, Dreams etc formally in my 20s and have a great passion for those subjects. But as this is an anxiety forum I recommend more mainstream/relevant books and as I said, the Anxious Brain one is sort of essential information for people with anxiety disorders. I read this one back in the 90s (as a textbook) but for certain reasons I decided to revisit it tonight:

Ok, I started this last night and actually laughed out loud a couple of times. BB, I'd get this rather than the one I originally posted and you can READ this. Also, the iBook only cost me $5

I ended up doing a couple of guided meditations by Tara Brach (the author of "Radical Acceptance") and fell asleep as soon as I went to bed!

This looks similar and good as well. I feel kind of responsible when it comes to your books BB!
