? Which AD do you think is best!

Would like to hear everyone's thoughts on what AD they think is best. I have been on Prozac for 2 months and it helped with depression and panic but I still have GAD.

Opinions? I don't want to rely upon Valium for help when I'm taking an AD that's supposed to.

I have had real success with Reboxetine, which is an NRI. It was actually prescribed for major depression, not for anxiety and as per it's 'type' could be a little stimulating for people who suffer anxiety alone.

I found that it gave me the motivation and desire to get up and get on with my life.

Of course it really depends on your own symptoms and diagnosis. I have also been on Zoloft (good, but not 100% effective at full dose for me personally), Effexor (great, but nasty night sweats EVERY night!), Lexapro (made me nauseous and had no noticeable impact on my mood). Apparently Aropax is VERY good for anxiety and depression as co-diagnosis, but it is hard to wean off completely.

Reboxetine is available in Europe and Australia, but not the States as it isn't FDA approved due to lack of proven efficacy in trials. However there may be other NRIs available if you live in the US.

I hope that your are seeing a specialist doctor or psychiatrist for your prescriptions. If not, do consider it because they are trained in this kind of medication.

I was on Prozac for a few weeks, I upped to 40 MG and become super depressed. I have found great success with Celexa (citalopram) and my sister has found great success with it's chemically similar cousin, Lexapro.

For me Citalopram has been great for my depression and anxiety (currently on 40mg). Taking that along with seeing a therapist has been really beneficial. i am also on beta blockers which has helped with panic attacks as it stops your heart from racing.

I've had great success with Lexapro. Lower side effects, supposedly will be easier to get off, and no more panic attacks!

I have had great success with lexapro (been on 2 times) found hell to come off though and weight gain huge-but it worked quickly and i needed no benzos, I am now on 20mg prozac about 4 weeks and still need the odd ativan but getting better, feel a bit low though no weight gain-have lost 5kgs but also being careful what I eat this time...they say prozac takes about 8 weeks to work

I had great luck with pristiq, it made a difference the first day. I was on it for about 5 months, it really turned me around and did great things.

It is hard to get off of, I made a write up on this Site about it but it really did work great when I was on it, and now that im off I feel like my old self again.

My de wants me to try pristiq, you're the 1st person I've ever heard of that's taken it. So it worked for you huh? Hard to get off of? Why even get off if it's working for you? Just curious???

It worked great for me. It was tough to get off of, but its just a matter of dealing with a ton of symptoms as it gets out of your system, but by tapering like I did it made it better, it was just 3 or so weeks of hellacious side effects.

I got off of it for 3 reasons. 1. I changed jobs and lost my insurance for 3 months and there is no way I can afford this med without it. 2. The job I left was the cause of all my problems, the stress level and my personal hatred of the job caused me to keep the anxiety, so by leaving the cause of the anxiety I felt that I no longer needed meds, and 3. I wanted to try to be med free again, to see if I could get back to the old, unmodified me.

I am still on a small beta blocker, but otherwise nothing else and I really do feel good, hopefully that will continue.
