Medication and long term affects Alzheimers Dementia and medications

    Hello
I am new to this anxiety problem and turning into a hypochondriac. I convinced myself that I have early onset Alzheimers because I am having short term memory problems. I get so frustrated when I forget something and that sets of a panic attack which make it worse. I am finally seeking help and read an article that suggests that the stress hormone cortisol is destroying the brain. The drugs used to treat depression and anxiety increase cortisol. There are books written on the long term affects of these drugs.
My memory problem coincides with the beginning of my anxiety problem. My memory is getting worse and I am starting to panic.
I read that exercise is far more effective than the drugs and will do anything to rid myself of this anxiety.
Has anyone been on these drugs for decades?
How many people have memory problems and do the drugs bring back your memory?

Been on fluoxetine since 1992.with no issues at all. They(ssri's) are actually neuroprotective. Be careful of what you read online.
Now high dose benzos can impair memory but at normal dosages that's not an issue.
High dose fish oil(about 10 grams a day) supports both neural function and form. Ask your doc about that. Alankay
