new to this but...

seriously ive had enough of anxiety especially health anxiety or hypochondria. every little pain i get a tingle in my left arm, neck pain or even a slight chest pain (most likely indigestion or whatever) im a mess i have a obsession with strokes and heart attacks so much so i repeatedly pinch my left arm to make sure it hasn't gone numb mad right? when ever i go out be it to the shops, a meal i get light headed and sweat up then i get that awful feeling of dread in the pit of my stomach and im terrified im going to faint in front of everyone so i just end up going home so now my anxiety peeks just before i leave the house so now i just force myself! even though i KNOW its nothing and its all the anxiety i have a clean bill of health but then i panic that because the doctor knows i have this he's not going to look into my complaint and that im going to die because any thing sinister will be over looked and blamed on anxiety ive been on all the meds tried going solo and now im back on more meds (propranolol) i just want to be normal! anyone else have this sort of panic?

This is ecactly where i was and how i felt. Ive been to many different ERs and two cardiologists. Ive been on prozac for about 2 months i feel better at times and theres times i dont. But i am where you are. You are not alone

hi Julienne ive just joined to i have hypochondriasis too i get sooo anxious about things too the the arm thing the nausea light headedness and all the other symptoms are of anxiety if yours are stroke fear based you will get stroke based symptoms i have cancer phobia and when im at my worst i get nausea stomach pain loss of appetite and all the symptoms of cancer of the stomach as that is what i fear most our minds are so powerful and have a certain amount of power over our bodies please know your no alone i know just how you feel take care

its awful the stroke obsession started like 2 years ago after my mother in-law had 1 she survived but once i learnt all the symptoms that was it i started pinching and clenching my fist to dig my nails into my hand to make sure i feel it (not self harming may i point out though) i have a huge fear of increasing my heart rate just in case it triggers a heart attack! but thank you both its nice to know its not just me with the health worries :)

I dont check the feeling in my arm but i have had an issue with checking my heart rate or blood pressue. I recently started with a theropist who told me i was in a anxiety circle. Checking my pulse and pressure was feeding into my irrational fears

yep i check my pulse too, i literally had my fingers stuck to my neck but the doctor put me on beta-blockers so they keep my heart rate constantly slow but to be honest this worries me too! i cant win!

ive actually bruised my neck from the constant pushing against it before, ive got myself in such a mess over this because once i feel its fast it plants a seed and thats all ill think about until i have a full blown attack but feeling the pulse gets almost like an addiction!

Dont worry its ok. Theres days were i felt like i was in a living hell or loosing my mind

see i thought i was going mad ive been hospitalized because my panicking has terrified other people into calling out the paramedics even though i know its anxiety once im in that state of mind no amount of reasoning can convince me im not dying! especially once the "phantom" symptoms kick in quick pulse, chest pain, left arm ache, dry mouth. i just wish it would stop its embarrassing and when it in front of other people its mortifying once its passed.

Ive been on prozac for almost 2 months now. Ive been having good days and bad days. The bad days are not a worse as they have been and its good to get some good days added in. Its been a 2 year struggle

I had prozac during one of my bouts and it worked really well. I didn't get any side effects from it and it was quite calming. Unfortunately body didn't like it this time at all and got lots of anxiety.
