So I've been battling depression since 3rd grade and I take about 6 pills for both depression and anxiety. I'm very depressed right now because I haven't been going to school lately... I haven't been going to school because I'm too anxious. It disappoints my mom and I feel I let everyone (including teachers who are flexible in homework dates) down.
I need some ideas to how I can get rid of this depression and some coping skills for school? :/
The trouble is that you can't really defeat the depression while secluded and its only going to happen by battling that fear at its source which seems to be at school where you feel most vulnerable. In my last two years at school we were allowed to leave if we had no more classes on that day, and for someone like me who had a bit of trouble being there it just gave me excuse to run home whenever I was feeling anxious or uneasy. At the start I would leave occasionally when I had a class with no friends in it, this would make me feel like a loser and my heat would race at the thought of going, so I'd take the easy way out and just go home, no questions were asked until they added up how much I'd missed and I failed to tell them the real reasons why I'd been leaving classes and they just put it down to me not wanting to be their and putting in no effort so they kicked me out. It's something I only realized later and unfortunately it let me down not knowing what was really going on at the time so in some ways you are better off knowing you are dealing with a mental health condition and that you can fight it, being treated as someone you are not which is eventually what happened to me is something you want to avoid, so my best advice would be for you to be totally honest with teachers and staff about how you are dealing with things and I can bet they will be mostly understanding if they are good people, do you best to meet them half way and you'll come out feeling a lot more positive about being there.
Are you in any therapy outside of taking medication?
