i thought this was a good idea for a thread.
tips for distraction when you're feeling that overwhelming feeling of your anxiety taking control

i use gaming and my obsession for researching things tends to help alot too

Staring at a candle burning can take your focus off of what's worrying you.

Closing your eyes and picturing yourself being happy and calm can be useful. Listening to a CD of ocean waves and birds singing can brighten your spirits, calm you down, and get your mind off what's got you worried.

I put my creative hat on and make things. I crochet, knit, make chainmaille jewelry - I find that when I keep my hands busy my anxiety is more manageable. It's even better if I can do this in front of the TV.

Calling a friend and getting her to talk about herself for a while. Get lost in someone else's problems.
