Well, I have been prescribed, Xanax, Vallium but those did NOTHING to help with whatever anxiety I have. All Xanax did was make me sleepy and Valium made me depressed and get a racy heart. The only thing that worked for 1 day was Krill Oil. But it stopped working and my head went weird. Strange I know. Sleep also helps sooo much. its like a reset button for my mind and stomach. However that only lasts as long as the worry/dread is gone. the I get worry/dread over something else. arrrg. Its like a loop. But I am grateful sleep helps me. Like waking up is a new day. :D

If Medications don't work, what will? Will I ever get better?

Thanks

Smug, what were the doses on all the benzos and have you had a blood test for thyroid, etc?
Sometimes buspar is tried as well as the almost obligatory trails of SSRI's. Even very low dose anti-pyschotics are sometimes needed for treatment resistant anxiety or even a TCA med like imipramine. PM me any time. Alankay.

Hi, they were the lowest doses, as if I have anything higher I get depressed. Arrrg even the doctors say I am difficult to treat as I am sensitive and get the bad side effects. I got tested for thyroid but it came back normal. I don't want to go on anti-psychotics as I was diagnosed with ADD and was on Ritalin and that drug me me very very depressed and get an electrical head, its hard to explain XD. Thank you for the reply.

Smug, have you tried herbals like Valerian root, Passion Flower, Kava kava, Skull Cap and/or chamomile teas?? Maybe they'd help since the RX stuff seem so strong. You can also try progesterone cremes believe it or not. Ask your doc about them if you still see one. Alankay.

Hai :D

I've tried Éthical Nutrients Stress and Anxiety Relief, Swiss Magnesium and this other one but I forgot but they did nothing. :C Sigh, maybe its something else. Basically I have this dread in my stomach and its always there. Its gets worse when I worry about something, otherwise its there but kinda in the background, low level dread/tension untill its flares up when I am worried/anxious. I had this for as long as I could remember. Even when relaxed I know its there but lying low. its lame :/

Smug, sounds like GAD huh? Buspar is often tried for that specifically. Alankay.

There are so many med's now, including combination therapies, and dosage changes. It did take me a fair while until I found one that worked. I'm sure it won't take you nearly as long. It depends what's out of balance in your brain, and what neurotransmitters aren't quite as effective as they should be. It can take some trial and error until we find it, as we don't really have the option of delving into the brain to check

As alan said, Buspar is one of the most tolerable meds, and it is used predominetly in the case of anxiety. It is different to the normal SSRI's too like Paxil and Zoloft.

If you have a lot of worry, and dread, it sounds like some cbt could help almost as much as medicine could :)
