Is there any medication out there that treats social anxiety and OCD without sexual side affects? I'm a 28 year old virgin thanks to my horsesh*t brain and no matter what I do I can't win. I saw a psychologist two years ago and put me on Serilitine (Zoloft), saying its the best medication for anxiety. Due to my job working with heavy machinery, that didn't go over too well. Had to cut it off after a week. Not that it mattered, it wasn't doing anything other than making me a impotent space case. I have performance anxiety to begin with. Lets say the Zoloft would have worked. I would have gone out and started dating but when it got to the bedroom it would have been like playing in MLB with a rubber bat. I mean, really? We're almost 1/8 of the way through the 21st century and this is the best they can do? Will doctors and researchers ever understand the brain, or will every medication I try have the word "presume" on the purpose label? I really am screwed, am I not? Oh yeah, i'm so screwed!

Cy, for me lexapro has the fewest side effects of any ssri. I will say the only one that ever effected mine was prozac but only at 60mg per day. None have ever gave me a lack of sex drive other than that one at that dose. Lexapro will be out in generic in March this year I believe.
TCA's were even worse with regard to sides. Sometimes even sexual sides pass.
So lexapro(escitalopram) of the SSRI's and the med Remeron might be tried. Trazodone can even add to the libido:). All can be tried for OCD even though luvox is often preferred by docs.
A good strategy is to start a med low and slowly raise the dose over a month of more. The body has time to get used to the med and often sides are missed or minimized. Sorry that's the state of meds for this but a knowledgeable doc might even have other suggestions. To a certain degree "where there's a will there's a way". PM me any time. Alankay.

Remeron is almost unique in the sense it actually boosts the libido. In my case, it is the most effective anti-depressant by about 50 miles. This was comfirmed too by the latest drug study which said it was responsible for the most remissions.

The only down side, is it's pretty sedating for a while, it can make you pretty drowsy for the first couple of weeks. It can also cause some weight gain to begin with. This usually goes after about a month or two.

I took Remeron for OCD, and it worked extremely well. I did gain almost 15lbs though, and was tired for a few months, but when eating sensibly I lost it. If it wasn't for that, and the sedation to begin with, I'm convinced it would be the popular anti-depressant. It actually boosts the libido, as is confirmed by the side effects document inside the packet. Decreased sex drive isn't reported as a side effect.
