Hello, my name's Emma and I'm new here. I came to the forums looking for answers, after having been diagnosed with depression and anxiety, I understand depression but know hardly anything on the matter of anxiety which leads me to question- was the diagnoses correct? I'd like to specifically know more about Generalised Anxiety Disorder(GDA). I look forward to meeting you all, take care.

I am diagnosed the same...anxiety often times is accompanied my panic attacks. Do you ever get those? Its when you feel like your going absolutely insane:( Hyperventilation and then dizziness! I don't know, all of this is different for different people but explain your feelings maybe I can give you more answers:) Hope to help!
Hugs,
Jenn

No, I've never had a panic attack thankfully. Sometimes I get dizzy and my body begins to tremble, but I've never blacked out from this. I also have trouble breathing, find it hard to relax in some situations. Usually when I tremble strange breathing patterns company it, I find myself needing to breath steadily then but can't sit down as this only makes the trembles worse.

hey emma! kev is right, depression and anxiety usually do go hand in hand... (i'm the opposite of you, i have anxiety with 'components of depression' to quote my GP). i've found that the best thing you can do for yourself is to find a really good therapist that you trust and are comfortable with and get a small support group. i also just read 'hope and help for your nerves' by dr. claire weekes. it's a bit outdated but it's very good at explaining what you're going through and offering a clear course of action.
best of luck
ps- love your location ;)

dramaminr helps me. or go to your GP and ask if he can recommend a sleeping pill. you need a good night's sleep before you tackle your problems. i also had a period where i got like 5 hours of sleep in almost 72 hours and i was a mess. i took half a dose of a sleeping pill and slept soundly for close to 10 hours. i've only ever used them once (very scared of addictive medication) but i know they're there is i need them. other times ive used dramamine.
i would suggest to go to your GP and get a referral to a psychologist. chamomile tea helps to calm nerves, there are breathing techniques and i've also used the all natural dr. bach's rescue remedy.
