My name is Katrina, I've been suffering from anxiety for a long time - mostly whenever I'm in a new situation, like a new school. A few months ago, I started getting really bad anxiety - when I have to do a speech or presentation. So far, its been somewhat bearable (I got temporary medication from my doctor). However, I am running low on the meds, no refills. I am dreading my public speaking class that starts tomorrow morning. I don't know what I'm going to do without medication. I've been able to present a few times last semester at my university, but only by using meds. I'm worrying a lot about this class - since the time I found out I had to take it. I'm hoping I will find support and some encouragement around this site and the forums.

Katrina, I had the same issue in college. In fact speech was the last class I took to graduate as I was so fearful. My pdoc gave me a beta blocker to add to the benzo I had, I practiced a million times and I was able to get through AOK. It was mostly Anticipatory Anxiety but you need to meet with your doc or GP near school and get the script. Let them know how truly bad it is for you and I bet they will help. In time it will get easier as you get desensitized. If it's psychological anxiety maybe some ativan. Propranolol 20-40mg for so for shaking/tremors/racing heart. PM me anytime. If I can do it, so can you. I was terrified but now I can even give classes and presentation because I was able to get through speech and get desensitized "so to speak":).
