Hi,
My names Dan and i live in the UK.
Im trying to deal with a problem im a little unsure of, i always feel like the few minutes before a job interview i suffer from panic attacks and i get so wound up i end up making myself ill, and its usually about things most prople wouldnt struggle to deal with. Im looking for an answer as much as anything. I have spoken to my doctor and he has put me on anti depressants and i should be seeing a councilor in the next few weeks. I just want so much to be able to deal with life like everone else can.
And thats me in a nutshell ;-).

I have spoken to the samaritans and they think the problem stems back to experiances as a child but i dont think so i went for years after without problem.
My doctor has put me on citalopran, wikipedia says its an antidepressent what is CBT maybe its worth consulting my doctor about.

Sorry kev, work is the thing that makes me most anxious i know i have to go into work tommorow and that terrifies me, i once ended up makin myself sick through tension because i didnt remember putting the keys for the office away after i used them, money also sparks me off im not very well paid and i always worry about money. But its mostly work. Its become quite unbearable. I get into real states about 3 or 4 times a week but im always feeling like i have to fight to get through the day. Hope thats a little clearer.

Hi. Seeing the counselor next week should help. Get it all out and see what they think best to proceed with next . Stay on the med and get started talking. You need to get up to speed with anxiety and how you can minimize/manage it via treatment, self help, better lifestyle, etc. Good you went to the doc as you did the hard part of getting started. Many try to figure it out themselves and would have been much better off if they did what you did. You're on your way. Keep in touch. Alankay.

You'll feel much better. In fact, if this is caused by an experience as a child, it may be that once you deal with that with the help of a therapist, your anxiety will dissipate or be reduced.
If not you'll need to work with a doc and get to work treating it with him. You'll feel much better. I'm saying by treating that you should see a medical professional and follow advise. By manage I mean learn all about anxiety, what causes it, what aggravates it, what meds(if any) are used and why, learning skills and knowledge so all this is not a mystery any longer. The day I started getting better is the day I met with a doc and told him everything. He gave me some meds since I was very anxious and had me see a Social Worker for talking therapy and encouraged me to read up but only after I was feeling better. This has been a journey of learning but really all anxious folks benefit great, in my opinion, by learning all about anxiety via professionals, self help books, group therapy for those who need it to understand this condition and manage your life with it(if you need to, others do move past it).
