Hi there! My name is Amber. I have suffered from anxiety (panic attacks) and mild depression for years.

Just recently as I've been having additional stress in my life, my anxiety has gotten worse. I am hear to chat with others who are going through the same thing and can understand what I'm going through. It is hard for my husband to really get it because he has never experienced what I have.

At any rate, I look forward to chatting with you all.

Hi Amber, yep your anxiety will peak when you're additional under stress. Try to accept it will drift back down in time if you can just hang in there and work the problems you're now facing. That's a key. Instead of focusing within yourself and how you're feeling, try and focus outside yourself and put that anxious energy to work resolving issues that is causing the recent bump up in anxiety. By doing so you'll be learning the value of distracting yourself and working the problem(s). I also understand the feelings on those close to you not quite understanding. But you really should let him know how you feel, it's a medical condition(the most common emotional disorder is anxiety) and that you can manage it but his support is INVALUABLE and helps a great deal. He needs to understand it's not something that redefines you but just is part of you. Only a part, not more. Are you seeing a doc or counselor for some treatment? In the mean time practice progressive relaxation, deep breathing exercises, get some aerobic exercise and limit caffeine and alcohol. Message me any time. Alan.
