when going thru an "up stage" (ie in a good mood, not letting anxiety overcome you) is it normal to still be battling the thoughts that cause anxiety? and for feelings to still be a bit out of whack?

Sure, it can kinda be there under the surface, simmering so to speak. Yeah, I'd d say I have that often. If I keep busy, I don't notice as much which is a great way/reason to find stuff to do!:) Or an additional benefit to keeping busy any way.
