Well, I want to thank everyone for encouraging me to use Buspar, but I had a very strange reaction last night. It was the last medicine I added and I woke up with hives on my chest. I also have had restless leg syndrome increase since being on this, plus feeling like my right arm and leg have muscle strains that keep getting worse. I have also had an almost constant headache while being on this medicine. I have decided to stay goodbye to it. I will deal with the anxiety. I know some of these symptoms could be from the anxiety, I know the hives are not.
Thank you,
April

Sorry to hear about your problem with Buspar. Not sure how long you have been taking it before you had this reaction but I deffinetly think it's a good idea to both consult your doctor and discontinue. Keep in mind that discontinuing any medication suddenly may cause many unpleasant withdrawl symptoms so be carefull and good luck :)

Be careful with those big pharma meds, they have proven that most of them don't work, and that restless leg can become worse or even permanent in the form of Parkinson.

Headache is a really common complaint from Buspar. I got a bad one the first time I took it so haven't taken it again cos I get migraines. I'm going to try again in about a week though.

Prove it. Parkinson's is likely to be a genetic disorder. This means that no "big pharma med" would have worsened or caused Parkinson's.

RE: Buspar. I never had any luck with that drug. I was on 10MG for panic attacks as a psuedo long acting Benzo (my doc says 'take it before your anxious situations and during, then after it you need it") which didn't help at all. It took an hour and a half for it to kick in for me, then it gave me a killer headache. I was scripted T2s (tylenol 300mg/codeine20mg) to deal with the headache pain, and the T2 did a better job of quelling my anxiety than the buspar.

Drugs can be funny as far as allergies go.

I am on 15mg of Lexapro and went through a few day period where I was getting hives on my hands and wrist, and was just generally itchy all over. A quick google search showed that this happens to some people, oddly enough 4-6 weeks into taking it. It gets worse for some people, requiring allergy medication.

For me, it disappeared in a few days. Weeks later I had a day or two where I had some hives, and my eyes puffed up HUGE. I freaked out thinking I was having a serious allergic reaction but it went away in about 24 hours. I was also soaking wet in the rain and at a music festival that day, so there's a good chance it was another variable.

I'm getting fed up with your anti-med crap all over this board. They don't work? Tell that to the millions of people that rely on them. Ativan can pull me out of a panic attack in minutes and completely calm me down. Lexapro has only given me the minor side effects above, and has put me closer to normal than I ever thought possible. No more daily panic attacks, I am working and socializing fine. I was in the front row at a crazy concert in a stadium with no anxiety!!! It's given me the balance I need to work out my anxiety issues through therapy.

Warrant your claims instead of just spouting one liners. On a site like this, with people suffering from anxiety, you could be unjustly turning them off of legitimate treatment options.

You could be allergic to the drug, or have contacted something with your chest of which you were unaware. The restlessness and muscle pain worries me and makes me worry about something like serotonin syndrome -- definitely hold off and check with your doc, and please let us know what you find out.

Well put these mental health meds (from my understanding) have not been approved by the FDA and that meaning the doctors are using us patients as guinea pigs,

I got constant headaches w/ Buspar too. Restless leg is also a common complaint. I have that either from some med I take or maybe I just have it, but it doesn't really bother me, lol.
