I have suffered from a General Anxiety Disorder and panic attacks for many years.
In the last two years these problems have become worse; currently these problems are substacially affecting my attendance and participation (during my final year) of University.
Today I explained this to a Doctor and have been prescibed a course of Citalopram, which I have now begun. In conjustion with this medication, the Doctor has arranged for me to receive couselling sessions (which are due to begin within the next couple of weeks).
I realise the self-cathartic appearance of this thread, but I hope that by documenting my subsequent experiences, other might gain some degree of insight into the step-by-step merits of these measures for the treatment of General Anxiety Disorder, perhaps thereby providing something pamphlets are unable to...

Citalopram helped me a bit but I didn't sleep well at first. That mostly passed but I changed to Lexapro(escitalopram) and my sleep got better. Either were only of maginal value for GAD but did help a bit.
