I actually just got off of that. The first few days I felt a little sick to my stomach and had to use the rest room more than normal. After the first week I felt alright though. It made me significantly happier which was kind of weird. I felt a little bubbly... maybe too bubbly. I had a couple really bad experiences with drinking while on it. Try going from closed off from the entire world to pouring your heart out to total strangers. I don't know if more people have similar issues but mine was not pleasant. I have since then stopped drinking to get a handle on my anxiety. Drinking and anxiety is a poor choice in the first place though. Anyways, I think I would give it another chance with smaller doses now that I've stopped drinking.

I went to see a doctor for depression/anxiety issues, and was given a prescription for Celexa. The doctor (actually the nurse practitioner) told me I might experience an upset stomach, and told me I could go ahead and take a half-tablet when I got back to work. The idea was that I would start with a lower dosage and eventually start taking the larger, full-tablet dosage. Almost immediately, I could tell the drug was going to mess me up. Within twenty minutes, it took every ounce of concentration I could muster to even talk with people. More unsettling was that a grin started to creep across my face, even though there was no earthly reason to be happy. Fortunately, the more extreme effects wore off in a few hours. As soon as I left work, I basically went back into the clinic, the nurse practitioner saw me without an appointment, and I informed him that I was not going to take this medication again because the effects freaked me out so badly. He conferred with the MD on duty, and they decided I had a serotonin reaction. I was done with Celexa, but unfortunately that takes all the SSRIs of the plate for me. Now I'm just taking buspar for anxiety... not sure if it's helping. I should say, as a disclaimer, that my reaction to Celexa is apparently not common.

I was OK with celexa. Just took some time for me to sleep properly again. Start with a low dose and see how it goes. I had no other side effects. Cheap too.:)
