Hi my name is Amanda and I had my first panic attack almost a year ago. It came out of no where and I am still struggling to get a hold on it. I have an under active thyroid that I feel may contribute to the symptoms I have been having. The panic attacks paralyze me and they are everyday sometimes multiple times a day. I have tried celexa, cymbalta, and now prozac and nothing seems to help. I feel as though I am where I started a year ago and am quickly deteriorating. Is there a cure for this or a way to live a normal life again?

Hi amanda and welcome to the forum. I often seem to go backwards at times, and then forward again, its a long and slow process and at times very frustrating! Have you tried any therapy yet?

I am against medicine, but i just try deep breathing and looking at my surroundings if that makes sense. Anxiety sucks and it seems like their is no end. You just have to find what works for you. Good Luck

I have not tried therapy. What do they do? I don't know how much talking can help but I am willing to try anything!!

I have been on thyroid medication for 2 years and when they test my levels they usually come back fine but more in the hypo range if they are out of wack which means that it isn't the reason for the anxiety. I guess I have always had anxiety but just started with the panic attacks a year ago. I am on 40mg of prozac and 0.25 of xanax. This doesn't seem to be helping really and I have no idea what else to do. I have tried celexa and cymbalta and neither of these have helped either. I have panic attacks every day. I have not gone a day with out one in as long as I can remember through out this year. I am going to see a new endocrinologist on the 19th to discuss some thyroid stuff and see if this has anything to do with that but I do not know where else to turn.
