Has anyone taken strictly L-Theanine for along period of time and it actually helped most symptoms of their anxiety? If so, how many mg were/do you take daily? I am looking at maybe starting it. I deal with horrible stomach issues daily from my anxiety as my Dr has told me since I have no other issues after being tested for many things. I don't want to take chemicals anymore to help the situation the rest of my life, and I have been off of celexa since last summer. Just curious.

heavinly22.. i just joined this forum and was glad to come across your question about L-Theanine. :) I took it for about a year and it helped me tremendously with anxiety. I only stopped taking it because i felt i was better and wanted to see what would happen. I haven't had the little panic attacks since i stopped and it's been about two years. I don't know how far they have brought L-Theanine since i quit taking it but when i did take it i made sure it contained Suntheanine. I researched alot before taking it and that is what i had read.. get Sunthenanine if you want to try it. The brand that i bought was by Enzymatic which i purchased at a local store. I'm sure you can buy any brand.. just check for Suntheanine. As for dosage (i actually still have the bottle in case i felt the need to take it again) i took 1 capsule a day which consisted of 100mg. The recommended dosage is 1 cap, two to three times daily as needed. Anyway, it worked for me. My Dr had wanted to put me on a RX but i asked if i could try the L-Theanine first and he agreed. I'm glad i did. It may not work for everyone, but it worked for me. I had panic attacks maybe twice a month and that's why i took it.

Hey Heavenly. I've been taking L-Theanine, I think 100mg, every day for a few months now, but not alone. I take it in a supplement that also has a B-Complex, Tryptophan, GABA, Magnesium, Calcium and a few other things. It's worked very well for me so far. Haven't had a panic attack in a while and my daily anxiety levels seem to get a little bit lower each month. Not sure what Suntheanine is all about, but this one seems to help. It's a product called Tranquilene that you can find online (at Tranquilene.com) . It's pretty great what they pack into one dose of that stuff.

Just another tip, I think Tryptophan is a great and underrated supplement for anxiety. Most people don't realize it's the precursor to 5HTP, which is the precursor to Serotonin. So basically, Tryptophan is the most basic ingredient for making more Serotonin in the brain. At least as far as I've read and experienced. I'm not an MD or anything.

I take Tryptophan and Theanine with a B Complex and I swear it helps me out big time.
