Hi, I'm slightly new to anxiety and this is the first medication i've been prescribed (well actually it was ativan, but I never took it.)
I wanted to know what your experience was like with paxil. Did it work? Did you have any side effects? how did it make you feel? Is it addictive
thanks so much

I was prescribed Paxil by my family general practitioner doc.. It didn't do a thing for me. Only thing it did do was make me feel dizzy, nauseated and "out of it". Was not a pleasant experience. So he had me discontinue it. I've had nothing but bad experiences with SSRIs / SNRIs. I only WISH my Dr. would prescribe me something along the lines of Ativan. I've only experienced relief of my anxiety with benzo class medications. A lot of doctors are "benzo-phobes" because they've been brainwashed by their drug reps into red flagging benzos, citing dependency / addiction issues. Keep in mind, though -- Most benzo addictions you'll hear about are due to the patient taking more than directed by their doctor, triggering physical / psychological dependence. (no-brainer, of course)

I was prescribed Paxil and it did wonders for me. I have to keep increasing the dosage. I finally found something that works great w/Paxil - Xanax. But most drs have a phobia about prescribing it so I ordered on the internet and I actually feel "normal".

Count me in as a benzo fan. My doctor treats my mom for anxiety and he was going to start me on paxil, but i think the color drained from my face and a meekly asked for ativan. He gave it to me, but since i am a young mother he started me on .5 mils. It works.
