View Full Version : New to the world of anxiety... and it's sure been a tough road

Well, this is the first time I've publicly acknowledge my anxiety issues, but it's just gotten to the point where I figure something like this might help.

I'm relatively new to the whole anxiety thing. It started back when I went to the hospital ER for what I thought was an irregular heartbeat. As it turns out, they found nothing, and told me I was fine after an EKG and some bloodwork.

Of course, ever since then, I've been obsessed with the idea of having a heart attack... and it seems as if it's manifesting itself as a kind of irrational fear. I had my first panic attack a couple weeks ago on an airplane, and my anxiety has been 10 times worse since that time.

I've been experiencing many of the anxiety symptoms, including chest pains, which of course concern the heck out of me every time they happen. It's turned into a vicious cycle, and it's to the point where I'm anxious just about all of the time.

Anyhow, figured I'd share my story.

Thanks,

Artie

Hi Artie and a big welcome to the forum. I have times where i am anxious most of the time as well, but then i seem to settle down a little and have some good periods as well, which help in getting back some confidence etc. I know how scary the chest pains can be also, so i feel for you and hope you start feeling better soon.

Im sure you will find lots of nice people here who are in the same situation (i know that makes me feel a bit better when i know im not the only one) and there is plenty of us to offer support or just chat if you need it :-)
