Medication question

I was wondering if anyone could answer this question for me, or just give me your opinions. I have been on Prozac for a week and 5 days and I saw my doctor yesterday and he switched me to Paxil. Today was my first day of taking it. I was just wondering, will I have to now wait all over again for the Paxil to work or should it work sooner because I have already been on an SSRI for almost 2 weeks, or will I have to wait the 4-6 weeks it usually takes?

Jenn, I think since prozac has such a long half life(several days) that the paxil will sort of "benefit" from that. They're the same class of medication(SSRI) and work on the same neurotransmitter(serotonin) so my answer is that I don't think you'll be starting from zero on this. Message me any time.
