Just like everyone else in this section, I'm a newbie!
Here is my background: I have dealt with anxiety for many years. I want to say I was probably first diagnosed with it around 15 years ago. BUT - I like to pretend I don't have it. I don't like taking meds. Well, anxiety meds at least. I hear lots of (scary) things about them. If you have any tips about ones that are good, let me know! The only one I have ever tried is .5 of xanax. I think the longest I have ever taken it for is 2 weeks at a time.
I do have several stories to tell that I will save for later. Here is something that happened to me last night. This was my 3rd bad panic attack ever. Since Tuesday, I have not felt very well. I have been feeling very tired, run down. Occasionally I will catch a chill or have a tingle in my feet. Last night I really wasn't feeling good so I laid down about 8:30 PM. I fell asleep and woke up about 9:30PM to feeling very awkward. A little lightheaded and my heart was starting to race. Then it was pounding and started skipping beats and fluttering. I called for my husband. I thought I was having a heart attack! I called my mom because she has heart problems and would know what to do. She knew right away - from my other experiences - that it was probably just a panic attack. My husband was ready to call 911. But we waited a few and everything went back to normal. But it was so scary!!! I haven't had a panic attack in a year or 2. This is why I try to avoid meds. I would like to try some alternatives or home remedies. Does anyone have any good suggestions for me?
I was actually reading a HUGE list of possible anxiety symptoms that I found on another site and couldn't beleive how many I actually have in my daily life and didn't realize how much anxiety is really affecting me. And I just ignore it....But I really want to fix it. Would love to hear your ideas! Thanks!

Welcome!

Sorry to hear about your big panic attack, I have had them too - and they are scary!

One of my home remedies at the moment is to journal whenever I feel a panic attack coming on. I write down my thoughts, feeling and body sensations. It sounds funny, but just the act of concentrating on this activity and writing down how I am feeling really does lift my mood and keep me grounded.

Just an idea :)

I have also found that fish oil capsules and Vitamin Bs really helpful. Please please please note that In no way as I a doctor, these are just supplements that has helped me and my overall health in general.

Be well :)
