Hi all,

I was wondering if anybody had ever taken any of the above to help them with anxiety/depression and what their experiences were? I'm not taking any other medications as its only mild depression/anxiety but thought i may give them a try

I've been taking 200mg of 5HTP for about 4-5 months and the only thing I can tell it doing is making me dream a lot more than I ever have. So, I guess it's helping me stay in REM sleep mode longer and better?

I suffer more from anxiety than from depression.

St Johns wort is one of the few proven herbs that really help for Depression and Anxiety. Definately worth a try before you start using the medical stuff. Personally it didn`t do much for me, but YMMV.

I've tried St. John's wort but had some complications because I'm on birth control. DO NOT TAKE that stuff if you are on birth control. But I do hear it works out for many people.

I'm with hrstruggle. I've taken St. John's wort for a few months now and it didn't do much for my general anxiousness. But it did help a bit with getting to sleep. Valerian root is pretty good too for sleep. I have an extract with a dropper. Tastes awful but it helps me slow down and relax for sleep.

Here are a few good resources to find out more about St. John's Wort (aside from wikipedia). I've never tried it myself, though, so can't speak from personal experience:
NIH
Mayo Clinic
