anyone got any experiences to share about Amitriptyline?

Well its a good drug to lower anxiety for alot of people. Probably better then the modern antidepressants like SSRI's. The downside of tricyclics is however that they are pretty "dirty" drugs, meaning they will act on alot of receptors unlike SSRI who only work to inhibit serotonin. Especially the anticholinergic effects are unpleasant; these include dry mouth, sedation, cognitive problems and weight gain.
But these side effects eont happen for everyone and they will get better once your body gets used to the drug. Again, i believe TCA's work better for some people compared to SSRI's but they do come with more side effects generally.
