Hi everyone! I'm new here, but not new to anxiety :)
I've always had some issues with social anxiety, but dealt with it to an extent. Lately though, I've had a lot of stress at work, and now am having severe issues with workplace anxiety, which is causing some serious problems with anxiety attacks. Initially I thought it was just panic attacks, but now its more of a general anxiety. It's fairly constant. I finally talked to my doctor about it, and he gave me Effexor XR (started out on 75mg, but I had problems with it and lowered it to 37.5 and have tolerated it fine) and Ativan (which I only take as necessary).
In addtio to workplace anxiety, I have a lot of home stress as a Mom to a child with Asperger's Syndrome who also has a life-threatening food allergy. My father is also suffering with a lot of health related problems and has been in and out of the hospital twice in the last month.
Needless to say, its been a rough year! The medication (Plus seeing a counselour) is helping get my anxiety under control. I'm hoping that my husband gets a new job very soon so I can be home with my kids again! For now, I'm just taking deep breaths, and trying to relax more...
