I have pretty much had this feeling all of my life. I have taken myself to hospital on a couple of occasions thinking I was having a heart attack but everytime they say it's just an anxiety attack.. But my real question now is for the past couple of months I have had and what I think they are is really bad heart palpitations where I can always feel my heart it feels like it stops and starts and always skipping beats.. This is not something that happens every so often this is something my heart does every single day all day.. I get pains in my chest , sometimes I feel light headed an I get sweats really bad.. I went to the doctors last week and they took some blood And I had a heart monitor on for like 1 min.. I called the doctors today and they said everything came back normal.. I just don't think it's normal to have skipped heart beats, chest pains, feeling dizzy and feeling tired every single day... Is this part of anxiety or can someone tell me does anyone else suffer from this every single day... Or what other tests should I have.. I just feel that my doc just didn't even really bother as he just thought it was anxiety I really feel it's something else

Dear David,

I find it difficult to say your symptoms are caused by anxiety or not. I'm not a doctor. Yes, your symptoms could be caused by anxiety, the constant tiredness by depression. However, you could be experiencing symptoms caused by a physical illness.
I'd like to know how your sleep is. If you sleep badly and know you have problems, like Sleep Apnea that can cause the tiredness and though I like to think rarely, a racing heartbeat too.
I don't like the phrase 'just an anxiety attack.' The symptoms that can arise from anxiety are just as real, valid and treatable as any physical illness. And with any illness caused by anxiety, the physical symptoms must be treated. So if you go to a doctor to get yourself checked out, and hear that dreaded phrase that tells you what's wrong with you, ask the doctors what they intend to do about them. They have a duty of care.

Hey Davidanxiety,

Relax my friend...If your doctors had a through check up and found nothing wrong with your heart or any other vital organs than be totally assured that you had a panic/anxiety attack, the symptoms you describe are exactly the same as i experienced a year back, but today i have come to terms with my condition and understood what causes my anxiety to shoot up and how i should cope with it, The symptoms are very very scary indeed i do understand as i have gone through it, but believe me if you are diagnosed with Anxiety disorder and your health tests are all fine then your are absolutely fine and these symptoms related to anxiety will not harm you in any way, this is 100% medical fact, you have to assure yourself this everyday, every-hour, Anxiety condition does makes you believe that something is really wrong with you, but you have to let this thought go off your mind and not think of it much, get busy with your everyday life and ignore all the symptoms if and when they appear and in a short time they will be gone......Also no doctors & no medicines can help you in this condition, they can only give you temporary relief or sometimes give side-effects, As this is not a disease of any kind, why medicines, you are perfectly well, but your mind has become a bit to anxious, Its only your thoughts that are causing all these, so only you can help yourself.

P.s - If you want better professional help please try to get your hands on the "Linden Method or the Panic-away" anti-anxiety programs, (its a simple no medicine just plain great information program and works 100%) if your anxiety if getting too high and hampering your normal life, The linden method will get you back to normalcy, it worked wonders for me, (also read me earlier posts of "my story and my diet" they will help you immensely), but you have to believe each and every word of it, Its 100%fact and truly life changing for anxiety sufferers, God Bless :):):)

First post here but I am a long time sufferer of the same symptoms. In my case, they are most definitely anxiety related. What you are experiencing are possibly Premature Ventricular Contractions (PVC). I have gone though test after test and every one has confirmed they are PVCs. What is happening is your heart beat twice in quick succession, followed by an extended pause before the next beat. When you have have them, it feels like a skipped beat or a flutter in your chest. Mine are also accompanied by chest pain and light headedness. Mine are caused mostly by anxiety but exercise can bring them on as well. In my case, the doctor thinks my adrenaline response is over acting because of anxiety. It sucks but PVCs will not kill you. What they will do is worry the hell out of you and that makes them worse.

My advise is to get a cardiac investigation done to rule out anything physical. Sounds like they have done some of it already but there are a few more tests to confirm it.

Thinking about them will make them worse, so try to avoid obsessing about it. I wouldn't call them panic attacks but they sure are a panic-related response.

I have them too, quite often ad have learnt to just ignore them as i know nothing bad will happen ( i used the theory that if my heart was in that much distress to be causing this that surely i would be in hospital or dead by now) they are so awful thd i hope it helps to know others have these symptoms aswell :-)
