Ok, so i dont think this place has a welcome committee, but Im gonna introduce myself regardless. My name is Oz, and ive suffered with anxiety for around 10 yrs now. Im 32. Ive tried only a few meds (Paxil, Xanax, & Clonezepam), cus im the type of guy that doesnt wanna live on meds, and im not a fan of meds. Heck the first tylenol I ever took was at 28 yrs old. Im just not big on meds.
Anyways, Im a single dad, that suffers from Social anxiety as well as general anxiety. Mostly its Social, but when im not on meds, general anxiety will kick in from time to time. I tried Paxil in my early twenties and it worked. I got off it and felt great for a couple years. Then it came back. I got back on Paxil, only this time the generic form, and I gained 35 lbs! Ive always been a thin athletic guy, so this is unnerving for me. I was uncomfortabe in my own skin, so I decided to get off Paxil. I should also mention at the time of getting off Paxil, my wife to be passed away from cancer. That was a real rough time for me, and im still toughing that out. So, its been 5 monthes since both and ive only been on Xanax, daily. Its ok, I do like the ease of Xanax, but the weight will not go away. Along with that, my anxiety with going into malls and grocery stores has come back. My Doc, suggested I get on Prozac. So im getting ready to start Prozac next week, on Monday. Im kinda nervous about it cus ive never used it and ive heard different things and different opinions about Prozac. Although, Im sure im still on my own with this, I joined this group to hopefully help me in the weeks to come. I know the first couple of weeks starting a new drug like this is hectic, so I was hoping id find solace at a forum with people who feel what ive felt and are dealing with what I deal.
Well, I only plan to use this Prozac for a couple monthes as I do not plan on a long term relationship with this drug. After all the reviews I have read, stated problems after years on Prozac. So I plan to try this and then try "The Linden Method". Well, good luck to me, and I hope you's are feeling better than I. God bless.
