im getting my medication tomorrow (wednesday) and im wondering how long will the effects take to go away when i start taking my medication again, because its my 21st birthday party on friday, and i dont want to be a hazard to myself, and others, so will the withdrawal symptoms go away in 2 days or less when i start taking them again,

As with any kind of drug withdrawal, antidepressant withdrawal goes away pretty quickly after you start taking the drug again. Chances are, you will be okay for Friday.

yeah antidepressants are a piece of cake compared to anti anxiety meds. they usually wear off in about a week or a week and a half. i know i stopped lexapro and the withdrawels lasted about 2 weeks of dizziness and no balance whatsoever. i couldnt even walk down the stairs cuz i thought i was falling off the world with every step. you will be fine.

I think you're confusing the duration of withdrawal symptoms after discontinuation vs the duration of withdrawal symptoms after the drug is resumed (which is what this person is asking). When it comes to antidepressants, both the severity and duration of withdrawal symptoms after discontinuation can vary trememdously from person to person. Some people can actually quit taking antidepressants and feel little to no withdrawal. Other people can have SERIOUS withdrawal symptoms for a couple of months or more. And others yet will have VERY serious withdrawal to the point that even a slow taper produces intense symptoms.
On the other hand, withdrawal symptoms typically go away VERY quickly after the drug is resumed. This, by the way, is one sure sign that the symptoms experienced when an antidepressant is discontinued are indeed withdrawal and NOT a return of depression/anxiety. If these symptoms WERE a return of depression/anxiety, they would take the same 4-6 weeks to abate as when the drug was first started.

yeah sorry about that post i was talking as if to stop taking the med cold turkey. its true that once your resume the medication the symptoms should stop rather quickly. ive seen post of people having bad withdrawal from anti depressants that last weeks but months? that sucks. ive been very lucky then. I have been on paxil, cymbalta, zoloft and lexapro over the years and never had any issues past a week or two. give it time mb.

Admittedly, suffering from withdrawal for a couple of months is an extreme case. But it has happened. I think that 1-3 weeks is probably more typical.
