Hi, my name is Dan. I am 21 years old. I came across this forum tonight and would like to introduce myself. As I've already done that, I will tell you that I have suffered from social anxiety disorder for the majority of my life; it has led me to utter desperation, it has led me to believe death was imminent. I feel I have been deprived of life. I have only experienced pain.

I have been enlightened. I am feeling better now and more optimistic. Although I have nothing, hope is keeping me alive.

Unlike many, I believe social anxiety disorder can be completely overcome. I believe each individual can overcome social anxiety disorder through calculated exposure methods, (cognitive therapy and medication may be a necessary additive for many) assuming the individual has the commitment to do so, and the commitment to endure the pain that will inevitably come with progress; however, many individuals do not have this commitment, and a vast majority do not have the knowledge or even the opportunity to overcome it if they wished.

I am in the process of creating a treatment group designed specifically for accomplishing this feat, for others and myself.

It will be non-profit. If you would like to learn more please read my original post on the social anxiety support board.

I would love to hear anyone's thoughts on the matter.
