View Full Version : Bad Effects with Cipralex, Any Ideas for New SSRI?

Hi, I was recently prescribed Cipralex, and, although I knew it was really important to try to ride out the first couple weeks of side effects, I couldn't. I was experiencing horribly increased anxiety, and severe heart palpitations. I used Klonazepam to get me through the side effects, but that would only last for so long, and then I would be back to feeling horrible. I simply couldn't force myself to continue taking it.

I have been on Mirtazapine for quite some time now, which was working well but my dose has been increasing steadily, until 60mg, when my doctor said they couldn't increase it anymore. It has stopped having the desired effect. I am on 45 mg right now as my dose was cut back when I started the cipralex.

Anyhoo, after all that, my question is, if these are the side effects I had with the Cipralex, is there another SSRI that I can try that is significantly different enough that it may work? I don't want to give up on SSRIs, they seem very promising, but I don't want to go through another week like that ever again.

If you have any tips or ideas I'd love to hear them

Thanks all

Even your doctor doesn't know what might be the best med for you to take. It's purely trial and error. What works well for one person might not work well for you. And you won't know how well something might work for you unless you try it.

Thanks Robbed, I know I just have to be patient with this, but I'm new to this forum and it's nice to have people who can reassure me that I'm on the right track
