My dr. started me on Lithium 300 mg h.s. I am not bipolar but have GAD. Has anyone else tried Lithuim? So far its not helping at all but I guess you have to be on it for awhile.

I am not bipolar but have GAD.

Then why did your doctor give you lithium? Did he/she even give you any explanation as to why?

don't take the lithium. it's used to treat bipolar not anxiety.
find a new doctor before he prescribes you heroin

My thoughts exactly. I'm not really into using medication for anxiety disorder. But I think it is REALLY bad when doctors try to put people on heavy duty medications for SERIOUS mental health problems (ie bipolar, schizophrenia, psychosis, etc) for anxiety disorder without even trying milder treatment options.

Thanks for your feedback. I think the dr put me on Lithuim is because I was on Geodon-an atypical antipsychotic. It worked pretty well but there were alot of bad side effects. I just recently changed psychiatrists so I think he is still trying to figure me out.

I have already been on xanax, klonapin but I built up a tolerance and they stopped working. I've been on alot of different medications and I think the dr is just trying something new that I havent been on
