Has anyone tried cymbalta or elavil for anxiety? Does it cause weight gain Does it work? My dr is thinking about trying Cymbalta

Cymbalta is just another one of many 'me too' SSRI/SNRI-type antidepressants. And, as with ANY antidepressant, the efficacy of Cymbalta is 'hit and miss' - you won't know how well it will work for you unless you actually try it. You might find that it provides at least some relief. It might do nothing. Or it might suck. But nobody can tell you for sure without you taking it first - not even a doctor. As for weight gain, this is a possible side effect with MANY psych drugs, including SSRI/SNRI antidepressants. Unfortunately, it doesn't tend to show up until you have been on the drug for some time.
