This is my first post and first time in a forum. Just looking for people like me in hopes of feeling a little better. Have had anxiety for 3 years now. Started with me thinking I was choking once and from then on out had trouble swallowing for fear of choking. (Had never even choked in the first place) It got so bad one morning that I ended up in the ER which is where I got diagnosed with anxiety. Ended up back there the very next day with the same problem this time shaking and thinking I was dying. My very first panic attack. After diagnosis, I started to feel better knowing what it was. Up until about 2 years later, it all came back in full swing. Ended up in ER a THIRD time. This time got a shot of Ativan and a prescription for Xanax. Took the Xanax as needed for the next month until it got so bad I said "I have to try something long-term." Which is when I started on Lexapro. Went off for 3 months. Just started again beginning of this month when I went to the ER a fourth time because I had no Xanax left. I'm about 3 and a half weeks into the Lexapro again and still having problems. It's getting a little better day by day but still needing Xanax for panic attacks at night sometimes. I think it would be great to hear everyone's stories and get to know everything about this awful, awful disorder.

Welcome Brittany! So sorry to hear what you have been through. What are you symptoms now with your anxiety? How do you feel on the Lexapro? Hope things start getting better for you!

Welcome Brittany, I'm new here so I hope we both find the support we need. It would be great to find a genuine way to get better.

Good luck

Thanks for the replies! So ready to talk to people like me. The Lexapro is working great so far! I've been back on it for a month now and I can feel it starting to make me normal again. Still some anxiety and having to take Xanax about once a week but that's so much better than nearly every night! The symptoms that I'm still experiencing are mostly just fear when I'm out, trouble swallowing and just overall nervousness. But still getting better day by day. I have high hopes!
