Hi -

I am a 26 yr old male with social anxiety, depression, and OCD but they are mixed so, when I'm happy, all of them go away together.

Recently, I've been getting some facial tics that are REALLY bothering me. When speaking to people, my eyes blink a lot. Just discovered that it's a facial tic. My anxiety leads to Parkinsons Disease, Tourettes, and all the bad things it could be. Also, when speaking to people and if I'm really nervous, my neck tenses up and my head shakes which is SOOO embarrasing. When this happens, I go home and want to cry. **Both of these nervous tics have come recently and I'm trying to figure out whether they are simple 1) Stress/Tension levels 2) Tourettes 3) Early onset Parkinsons, etc.

Also, if they are just stress induced, how do I stop them?

I am being put on Anafranil tomorrow (A TCA) for my OCD and anxiety so hopefully this will help with that but these tics are really bothersome. Need advice :) Thanks guys

Most likely it's just nerve based. You said it yourself that you get nervous by talking to people. This nervousness causes your nervous system to dysfunction and as a result causes your face to twitch.

As to why your face is twitching and not something else, well that's for a medical professional to decide, my guess would be that it's something on a subconscious level and that could be "re-programmed" with proper techniques...

But that's just a guess from the top of my head.
