I asked my doc about the possibility of tolerance to my meds (been on my ssri for 10 yrs) and he seemed to dismiss the idea and would not change my meds.
I spoke to a registered mental health nurse who was counselling me and they said that tolerance is a real issue with patients often having to switch meds perhaps every couple fo years. This conflicting advice has confused me :?
My ssri worked VERY well indeed for about a year, but then I found my depression/anx slowly returning. Now 10 years on the meds and I dont feel like I did when I first started taking the same ssri. I have tried increasing my dose but with little further effect (started on 100mg zoloft/sertraline, and have been as high as 300mg). 300mg may have worked, but I was reduced to 100mg by my present dr as he said it was too high (250mg is max recommended).
Anyone got any experience or advice on anti-depressant drug tolerance?
