I suffer from debilitating anxiety to the point that the first time it happened five years ago I went from 120 to 98 lbs in a month due to vomitting every morning. It's happened again but I've only lost 10lbs because I sought help much quicker this time. I spent a night in the inpt pysch unit earlier this month and the pysch dr prescribed remeron. They were very reluctant to give to to me due to the excessive weight gain but I was more then willing to take it because I'd like to gain weight.
I took it for the first week and felt like an entirely new person. The second week I started experiencing anxiety in the afternoons that would last from 12-4 that was manageable. The start of week three I started vomitting in the morning again so I called and the dr up'd my dose to 60mg and I woke up this morning with severe anxiety, no vomitting but severe nausea. Has anyone else tried remeron? Any similar experiences, will it get better? Please someone help, I don't want to go inpt again. Any advice is welcome. I need support :)

hello jen.
sorry, cant advise you with regards to medication as have never had the problem with vomiting.

Think that your symptoms are different and maybe even more complex than other anxious peoples symptoms.

It may be worth talking to a psychiatrist with regards to this problem in order to get a more detailed diagnosis and once you have it, then you can research the topic further.

There are some good websites on the net that may give you some good advise and will help you find other people who are suffering from the same condition.

If the cause of your vomiting problems is due to your self image, you may be more likely to find help by seeing a psychologist who may help you improve your self image.

Sometimes speaking to someone can really help.
For example, I go to a gym and some times I see young girls come in to exercise frantically, as they see them selves as fat.
If they speak to me, I tell them that they don't need to lose weight, as they are often very slim already.

I can offer some advise as to what to eat though,
generally, to put on weight, you have to eat the opposite to what you eat to lose weight.
Personally, I put on weight very easily, but especially if I eat the following:

Cheese
Cakes (cream cakes with icing on top...mmmm!)
Ice Cream
Sweets
Chocolate
Pizza
Pasta
Peanut butter
Butter
Alcohol
etc.

Please note though, that in the long term, the above can cause elevated stress hormone levels and other problems such as diabetes.
So, I would imagine that only a few months of this type of diet would be advisable.

So, if you are into this idea, you can really have a ball if you want to, as putting on weight is not an issue.

You may be getting anxiety due to the lack of nutrition in your diet.
Get your doctor to do a blood test to check your vitamin levels.
B vitamins are really important, as well as other vitamins.
Especially B12.

Supplements such as L Theanine may also help reduce your anxiety.

If you want to read up on nutrition. Books by Patrick Holford I can recommend!
