I am 36 years old single woman who has been suffering from anxiety all my adult life .i tried many things and i know one thing is more important then anything else, and that is to know that as terrible as it feels sometimes-well most of the times in my case-you are not alone ,you are not beyond help.
i want to tell each and every one of you out there having anxiety and feels they are a mess and life seem just too much,it will get better.
i m in this forum to help support others who suffer from anxiety and all its consequesnces ,i lived with anxiety for more then 15 years now and tried almost everything and yes it does get better.

What treatment did/do you receive? I have been anxious since childhood and will be 30 next year. Just diagnosed last year with GAD, Panic & Agoraphobia...been in cognitive behavioral therapy since.

i was writing you a post and refered u to my blog not knowing its not allowed here.anyway i ll give you a quick recap.
initally when i was diagnosed with GAD i refused any medication..i wasyoung and honestly scared.anyway i did relaation therapy with my clinical psychologist..in the beging especially when ur too anxious it really work when done with professional.
later one i started doing it at home.so relaxation plus i did courses for different breathing techniques and meditation which helped but wasnt easy.
in my case two things saw me through..psychotherapy almost weekly session and journalling.
when i m al ost going crazy i walked and walked and walked.
anyway it takes time..u have to be patient.cbt will be very helpful wit phobiasa and it helped me later with my situtional panic attacks but psychotherapy was te long term approach i m glad i took.
later i was suffering mild dpression so that even when my anxiety subsies i just dont seemale to get on with my life..so i was prescribed prozac plus xanax for panic attacks bot i found effective but no magic..it takes time so the medication was just because i was depressed suffering form insomnia and totally exhausted.
so even if u take medication use ot as an acclerator but find alife style and tools that really work for you on the long run because u dont want to take drugs your whole life.
i cant go into more details and i m not sure u would like that but u have to explore amny tools and dont depend on one.
so long and sorry if i m reply was too long.:)

I;m not interested in meds either. It's been hard waiting for more "permanent" results. It's frustrating feeling like you will "never get better" although I do see many changes. I will hang in there....I am also receving psychoanalysis.
