why do they prescribe xanax if it can cause breathing problems? like someone who suffer from anxiety doesn't have enough breathing issues. should I take it? or not? :unsure:

Xanax should not be given to someone who has COPD or another chronic lung disease as it can slow resperations. In a normally functioning pair of lungs it should not cause any issues. Ativan has the same risks and that is what I use. I also get short of breath from anxiety. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you are unsure.
