Hi Everyone,
I am writing an article on how to find a cognitive behavioural therapist for anxiety and I'm getting very conflicting info. If you have gone through CBT, I would be very grateful if you can answer any or all of the following questions to help me write my article, which I plan to post on Ezinearticles.
1. CBT is supposed to have a very strict time limit with a set number of sessions. Did your therapist give you a strict cut-off point for your therapy?
2. Was your therapist also a psychoanalyst? If yes, did you just do CBT or were you also psychoanalyzed?
3. Was your therapist a specialist in anxiety disorders?
4. Did you check out a bunch of therapists or did you just go to the one your doctor referred you to?
5. If you were already on antidepressants, did your therapist say that it was perfectly okay to go through the whole CBT programme while on drugs? Or were you given a withdrawal programme?
6. Did the CBT cure you and give you a solid plan to prevent the anxiety from returning?
I would really appreciate any help you can offer. If something is too confidential, just click the PM button and send me a private reply. Thanks in advance.
