Hey everyone!
I found this article on anxiety relief using a very unconventional method. Let me know what you think of this method.

This is classic brain chemistry affecting the mind, to the point here where the effect on the mind is sudden and obvious.
Naturally correcting brain chemistry subtly and continuously, when suffering from anxiety, by natural substances that are supposed to enter, and be used by the body, is a must!

Using cannabis, or THC (the contained psychoactive substance) quickly and powerfully affects brain chemistry, throwing the balance off in a way that gives very nice effects on the mind; however, this sudden change in brain chemistry will certainly come back to haunt you.

I strongly disagree that cannabis should be used as a realistic approach to battle anxiety, in the long-term that is. Subtle, natural and continuous nourishment of the brain and brain chemistry by nutrients found in food, such as omega essential oils and plenty of good quality protein foods and other supplements, is a very serious, natural and effective approach to regaining control of your mind and it’s brain chemistry engine.

Yes, I agree that this is definitely not a good long term approach. I guess this may help some people COPE with this problem.

I'm 56, and have been a daily pot smoker since I was 20 or so. One might think I would endorse this concept, but, in my experice, it's counter-intuative. Pot tends to make one more introspective, and hence, more prone to anxiety/panic attacks.

On the other hand, it's a form of escapism, and I think until someone can release us from the hell that anxiety can be, some of us find solice in it, real or imagined.

pot makes me MORE anxious and paranoid. I used it as a teen w/ no problems but as an adult I tried it and I just kept looking at the clock waiting to come down.

Probably not a good idea, smoking weed can worsen your condition significantly. I used to smoke pot to reduce my anxiety symptoms and ended up with depersonalization and panic attacks that are clearing up only after several months of abstinence.

I grew up smoking large quantities of Pot etc.
.
Know I am in my late 30's, I regret smoking pot completely as I know for sure that doing so has damaged my health to some extent, and most certainly has been the cause of a number of my friends ending up being admitted involuntarily into an adult psychiatric unit (mental hospital) for drug induced psychosis.
.
Some, became so ill that they started getting major paranoid delusions that the CIA had installed covert pin hole camcorders in their houses and were recording their every move.
.
Was this because they were secret spy's working for underground agencies that specialize in espionage that threatened the US national security?....
.
Nope.
.
They were simply nuts!
.
Others have symptoms of the classic Messiah complex, believing that they are the holy chosen ones, who have ended up again in mental health care, because they have tried to fast for 40 days and 40 nights...
.
Were they correct in their assumption that they are the next coming?...
.
Nope.
.
They were nuts!

Again, another ex-buddy, who was a hare krsna ended up in the a.p.u. after getting visions of the Hindu gods Krsna and Shiva, who appeared to him to give him advice which seemed to result in him sending pretty much everyone he knew bizarre hare krsna pamphlet with hand written abstract personal messages written on them....Hmmm.
.
This was shortly after he split me and my wife up by using all sorts of psychological ploys...in order that he could then ask her out.
Well thanks buddy (ex).
.
Anyway, I could go on and on and I think that if you spoke to any psychologist that has experience of working on the Psych ward for any real length of time, they will be able to tell you countless stories similar in nature.
.
Perhaps this is what the kids need to be taught at school. How mad dope can make you. I guess if there weren't billions to be made from dope, there would be more education and less cultivation. But there we go. The age old story.

Man's greed generally out weighs his compassion.
.
For those interested in the chemical effects that THC has on the brain, it may be worth you reading up on Anandamide.
This is an anti psychotic that the brain produces in order to counter the psychotic effects of THC.
.
This may certainly explain why people experience a blissed out feeling when they first start smoking dope, and why, after prolonged use of dope, some people start to suffer from drug induced psychosis possibly because the long term user's brain can not produce the required amount of Anandamide to be effective against the psychotic effects of the THC.
.
Anyway, ultimate answer is that smoking dope is as good a cure for anxiety as eating cream eclairs is for obesity! (although i am sure that there are some obese people out there that are now very angry at that last comment regarding eclairs, as they have been taking eclair treatment for decades with much success....).

here's my opinion:
Marijuana is a immediate approach and may be a temptation but it isn't helping 1 bit after that hour of being high ends.

The worst thing in the world for anxiety is smoking weed. Holy moly.

When it all comes down, smoking bud to deal with anxiety disorder is, at best, the same as taking prescription medication to deal with anxiety disorder (I never understood why people can't see that marijuana is nothing more than a DRUG). It may help some people to some degree. But others are going to be sorry. And in the long term, it's not going to cure anyone. In other words, even if you happen to feel better when smoking, marijuana (like prescription medications such as benzos, SSRIs, etc) simply masks symptoms. It doesn't actually make you better.

I'm with Andrew.

I used marijuana for a long time because I thought it was helping me deal with my anxiety.

Then I realized that I was only masking the problem. Whenever I was not high, I was flooded with emotions and anxiety.

It took me a while to kick the habit. I can say from personal experience it was not worth it.

Can you give me some evidence to these canibis induced psychosis? To my knowlege and research, there has been no such thing happen. It seems to me you are just speaking bad of something because you yourself do not agree with it. present evidence and I will gladly agree with you.

this would be the worst thing you can do for anxiety. It triggers anxiety attacks and does not relax, as suggested.

Try some breathing and yoga instead
