I've been on 20mg per day of celexa for about 5 weeks now. I feel very shaky, have a ton of tension in my neck and upper back, have had heart palpitations, can't sleep well, and my appetite is still poor. How long should I give the drug a chance before trying something else? Or is it possible my dosage needs increased?

When I was Lexapro, which is similar to Celexa, I had similar side effects. They took a good 6-8 weeks to settle down. So I'd give it a little longer before discussing it with you doctor.
You also consider non-medication based therapies as well.

Thanks for the response! My doctor actually ended up switching me to Lexapro. I took Lexapro in the past and had good results in terms of reducing my anxiety. The issue I had with the drug was weight gain. Did you gain any weight when taking Lexapro?

All SSRIs/SNRIs have the potential to cause weight gain.
