Hi everyone, I'm Dave.

I've always had some anxiety issues, and a few times they have become rather hard to deal with and it seems to be happening again. Not sure where to start..lol. I'm 28, when I was in college I got bronchitis and coughed for months and I ended up with a lingering throat clearing like tic that seems to get worse when im anxious but I have been able to control it more of less. I was on a sort of date back then and I had been taking robitussin DM(i think) and i ended up flipping out and leaving the girl at the movies, I wouldn't really consider that 100% anxiety since one of the side effects is nervousness(i also had a problem with nyquil keeping me awake when i was a teenager). Anyway fast foward to a few weeks ago, my fiancee got a job teaching upstate NY and I stayed on Long Island to tie up some loose ends before joining her up there. Anyway for a few weeks I was doing fine, then I caught a cold on the way back from upstate and I made the mistake of taking some dayquill and I got all nervous and tingly and felt like i was gonna pass out so I called my grandfather to come pick me up. Anyway since then I've been afraid to be alone and I've had bad anxiety while driving(which has been a reoccuring problem for me but usually I don't let it take my life over). I haven't been able to stay alone in my apartment and I just ended up staying with my grandparents and mom becuase I don't want to be left alone(also they have an awesome house on the water and I have a shitty 560 sq ft appartment..lol). Also I had an elderly neighbor next door who passed away in his appartment and that freaked me out a bit. I also have trouble swallowing in restaurants amoung other things... I could go on but idk I just need someone to talk to.

This is kind of a difficult situation to be in it sounds like. I'm not quite understand where the anxiety is coming in here...it sounds like drinking some cough syrup makes you anxious, but you don't really mention anxiety happening without the cough syrup, so that should make the solution to that problem easy. How has this driving anxiety been happening? Every time you drive? If so, that will require the help of a counselor/therapist most likely, although you can work past it on your own.

Yeah it might be kind of creepy that someone next door died but they weren't murdered were they? If they died naturally it has nothing to do with you so you are okay. If you're too creeped out by that, move when your lease is up next. Hope some of this helps and if you can give more details about your driving anxiety, that would be helpful. Good luck with everything!

yeah i didn't want to go on forever, the cough syrup thing just seemed to set me off and ive been having some trouble functioning since then, driving has become very difficult unless I have someone else in the car with me.

but yeah im a mess..lol.

the guy next door was an old man and I assume he died of natural causes(i didn't know him, I just saw the paramedics and later on overheard the neighbors talking about him being dead). This isn't rational stuff otherwise I wouldn't be on here.
