Hi everyone,

I`m very glad to have found this site, because I`m relieved to know I`m not alone with this. I have general anxiety disorder coupled with hypocondria. I`ve learned to accept it and deal with it. The important thing is to learn how to deal with it the right way.
I`m almost 29 and while I`ve been suffering from anxiety at varying degrees for almost twelve years, I`ve hit a rough patch, which I`m recently recovering from.
While I don`t know where my fears and anxiety come from, one pattern I noticed is that anxiety makes everything worse. It constantly puts you on edge and creates psychosomatic symptoms, which become physical. For a hypocondriac, this isn`t good. I`m a generally healthy person who`s underwent a recent blood test (normal), CT scan and chest x-ray (normal) and yet sometimes (I`m getting better at this), I feel like there has to be something physically wrong with me, even if there isn`t. It`s almost as if I`m asking for trouble. I realized I have a problem, although I`m not the worst hypocondriac. Getting back to anxiety, I realized where the symptoms were coming from: throbbing, frequent headaches that tend to be on one side, sore neck, shoulders, ribs, even chest pains, palpiations, sweating, twitchy legs, overreact, irritality, painful breathing (as if I ran a marathon) muscular pains here and there, and I`m not sure about this but even a higher blood cell count (a bit above the normal); My last test was normal, but the one before that was a bit abnormal and I didn`t have an infection/inflammation (at least not that I know of). These are just of the few symptoms I get when the pressure is really on.
Part of the recovery process for me is to lift the edge off, change my thinking in order to remove the anxiety. Prayer helps me tremendously and breathing exercises. I have improved but I still have a long way to go. God bless you all. :)

Hi seethelight,

Glad to hear that you're improving and that you've found that prayer helps ease your mind. Continue with your positive thinking and your breathing. You're doing great! Keep it up and know that you're not alone! :)
