Since the onset of my panic ive been smoking again with the view that it will calm me down.

Is there any evidence to suggest this acutually will help me?

Most anxiety sufferers smoke (based on people I have known and a poll I posted here some time ago). And they probably do so for the same reason that you do. But it is generally believed that smoking ultimately aggravates anxiety disorder. And regardless of whether or not it actually does, the dangers to your physical health are undeniable. Furthermore, worrying about this alone, as well as uncertainties about one's ability to quit, causes MUCH anxiety for SO many anxiety sufferers who smoke. In other words, it would be better for you to quit before you become too addicted.

I smoke and can see no evidance that it makes it worse or better, but if you can stop please do as it is simply bad for you anyway.

All i can think of here is that some Anxiety sufferers have IBS which somking will make worse due to the fact it increases stomach acids.

I'm trying to cut down in the hope of stopping.
