I have migrated from the Anxiety Forum to here because it appeared that the site was poorly maintained and few people were posting.
Me? Anxiety sufferer for most of my life. Severe anxiety for much of my life, so much so that I thought I was crazy. Anxiety has prevented me from making good choices, sometimes making any choices at all, and the toll has been exponential.
I take meds, lots of them. Sometimes they help, sometimes no. I have learned SOME coping skills...these prevent me from running/shrieking from rooms, situations, whatever, but don't mask the underlying terror.
I hope to find some kindred spirits here and learn how others cope.
Thanks.

I'm new here and I sufferer from anxiety also.

Been here a couple of times checking out what others are doing about there conditions and picking up some helpful advice. Hope to learn more and it's great to be able to talk with people in the same situation.

Hi Emily,
We sound an awful lot alike - except for the meds part. I hate taking meds because they scare me too.
I do know what it feels like to be totally consumed by this crazy anxiety - it has ruined many things in my life.
One thing that has worked somewhat for me is to take everything you do in small strides. And then be proud of yourself for doing it - dwell on the fact that you've accomplished something that you felt you couldn't before. You can start with something very mundane - something that other people take for granted. Even just smiling at someone can have a great effect on the other person and on you!
You sound like you need a true friend to be by your side for the next little while. Don't give up - we all have something good to offer in this life. You need to find what that is - and you will.
Good luck to you
