View Full Version : I Don't Like It When A Shrink Sighs Impatiently While I'm Expressing Myself

When I was receiving treatment from psychotherapists back in the day, I liked getting a lot of advice from shrinks.

But I also found it therapeutic to express myself during therapy sessions.

I came to see that the vast majority of therapists were good listeners.

However, I found that a few of the counselors I worked with would sometimes sigh impatiently while I was expressing to them how I was feeling.

I don't like it when a therapist sighs impatiently while I'm expressing myself during therapy sessions. It gives me the impression that he or she doesn't really want to hear what I have to say.

So if you're trying to help someone with mental health issues, whether you're a shrink or just a friend of someone with mental illness, try not to sigh while they're telling you how they think and feel. Not sighing can help show them that you care. And that matters a lot.
